Works to convert a former GP’s surgery in Essex, into two apartments were completed by Colnesett Ltd last month. See the photo gallery of the work below.
Following the retirement of the surgery’s owner, Dr Patel, it was decided that the building would be best put to use as residential accommodation.
Work began in late 2020, with the building being stripped right back to bricks and mortar in readiness for the new fit out to begin.
Colnesett were instructed to carry out the works by Elwell Taylor Chartered Surveyors, in the latest of a number of refurbishment projects the two companies have worked on down the years.
Bill Tarbotton, Contracts Director for Colnesett said the works represent an increase in the number of commercial to residential conversions the company has been involved with of late.
He said: “Until recent years, Colnesett’s work has mainly been on commercial fit-out projects including offices, restaurants and hotels.
“Whilst we still very much welcome that kind of work, we recognise that Colnesett has now grown to such an extent that we can provide the very best trades to carry out high quality residential works too.
“It’s always very rewarding to look back on a project that has been stripped right back and converted into something new.”
The development comprises of two quality apartments with two bedrooms and one bathroom each – ideal for a professional working in Chelmsford, Colchester or London.
Dr Patel, who owns the building, retired from practicing as a GP in 2019, so felt the building would be best put to use as residential accommodation.
It’s something that Ellwell Taylor also specialise in, and company director, Nick Taylor knew the project would be in capable hands with Colnesett.
He said: “We have worked with Colnesett for almost 10 years and they have become our preferred contractor for interior refurbishment and fit-out works - ranging from high end client show rooms, commercial offices, warehouses, laboratories and residential conversions including all aspects of mechanical and electrical installation.
“The projects that they have undertaken on behalf of our clients have all been delivered to a very high standard of workmanship no matter how complicated the job.”
The works were completed in March 2021, with the project delivered on time and on budget.
